Today I did my research and wrote my paper on "Tank Man". I found it really interesting, and the picture itself is luring. My paper touches on the history behind the photo and why it happened. Students in Beijing started protest in favor of democracy after there were memorial protests for communist general who died. The students were beaten, arrested, the even killed. After these events Beijing did not return to a peaceful place. Communist police covered the streets along with tanks. Soon after an unknown man stood in his own little protest in front f traveling tanks, and this had a huge impact on the press. He was very brave for standing in front on a moving tank right in their path. The tanks stopped before running over the man and the man was taken away for a possible unknown punishment. The picture taken of the man standing in front of the moving tanks is an iconic image and is very popular. It stand for many things to the Chinese people, especially those who crave more freedom and are pro- democracy.
