lecture
So I totally regret not going to the lecture this morning, but I am sick and decided to sleep in. The lecture at 7 pm featured the work of Brett Cook. I really liked his work or portraits, its size and color! Wow there was so much color, and used with spray paint. It really was amazing. His lecture was very interactive, we took three breaths together to collaborate. He had volunteers write on posters on the walls that read COMMUNITY and SOUL, and used them as rubrics for his presentation. He does a lot of interesting community projects that really get people you wouldn't expect involved, and by watching interviews, I learned that they were excited about his projects. In his lecture he compared community vs. soul, paintings vs. murals, and even graffiti vs art work. I did not like how he went on and on about race, and how the lecture itself was soooo long. But all in all it was interesting and I enjoyed his work.
